Export and Sell Your Beverages to Mexico
Energy Drink Sales

Selling Energy Drinks in Mexico is similar to selling them in Mexico.  There is competition and you need a good distributor and retailer package.  With this in hand you stack the deck in your favor.

If you need more information on energy drink sales and distribution please read my book on the subject.  It is packed with information on your sales and distribution channels.

Here are some of the PUSH BACKS and concerns that you get in Mexico.

Distributors
.- It is expensive for distributors to import energy drinks.  Even at discounted export prices distributors still have to pay export tax, sugar tax, fees, tariffs and more.  Furthermore, they don’t see the turns from these products that they see from soda, water and other products.  Please read more about import costs in our section “Exporting to Mexico”

Large Chains.- These chains, both supermarkets and warehouse stores push back any new product.  They don’t even consider you product if you don’t have a track record with them as a company or a good relationship.  Why sell to these chains?  Well, they give you recognition with other stores and distributors.  Furthermore, they do move lot’s of cases per store.  Another reason, many small stores buy their products at these chains like COSTCO or Food4Less.  We’ve successfully placed product in these chains. Call us to see how you can place your product.

C-Stores.- These is where you want you product!  The problem? 90% of convenient stores are mom and pop.  If you’re not Coke you’re not getting in; especially with new expensive products like Energy Drinks.  In most cities you start by selling only a few cans per store until they start trusting the sales and the product.  Trust is the major push back here.

Consumers.- Mexican Consumers love new products and love energy drinks.  The push back, price, education and brand.  Mexicans are extremely brand loyal and it’s hard to make them switch.  Many others have not tasted energy drinks and you have to educate them on the category.  Finally, Energy Drinks cost 3 to 4 times as much as soda.  Soda is up to 50% cheaper in Mexico compared to the USA.  Remember, minimum wage in Mexico is about $40 per week.  One Energy Drink can be 25% of their daily wage.
